W07 Entrepreneurial Journal

Hello everyone, today I will be writing on how the 7 habit will help me fill my life with passion and purpose to achieve victory and which of the habit has the most meaning to me. According to An Approach to Solving Personal and Professional Problems by STEPHEN R. COVEY , there are 7 habits of highly effective people 1.       Be proactive : being proactive means to actively choose what our response will be in any situation rather than to react blindly. 2.       Begin with the end in mind : Beginning with the end in mind means using an image or paradigm of your character at the end of your life as a frame of reference or criterion by which everything is examined 3.       Put first things first : The heart of effective personal time management is to spend the maximum time possible doing important jobs in a non-urgent atmosphere that increases your efficiency. 4.       Think...

W06 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

Hello everyone, I will be talking about what I learnt from the material So You Want to Be an entrepreneur? Don’t jump in unprepared . Some people portray business as a complex enterprise, requiring the mastery of impressive-sounding jargon, complicated flowcharts, and spreadsheets but millions of people who have never seen the inside of a business school are running successful companies.   There are three areas of knowledge that are critical for starting a successful business: 1 In-depth knowledge of the competitive structure of an industry and a network of contacts within that industry; 2 The skills to run the daily operations of a small, rapidly growing company; and 3 The ability to raise money . I learnt that as I begin a new career, I should think of my self as being on a scavenger hunt with three bags labelled “industry knowledge,” “running a business” and “capital.” In each bag is a list of the items I (or my partner) will need to improve my odds of becoming a suc...

A Hero's Journey

Hello everyone,  This week in the "A hero journey", I learnt that if  I find myself asking some questions like, do I really have what it takes to succeed? and even deeper I worried that if I was successful, that I might lose my soul in the process.  If I  feel today like he felt then, I have a very special mission on this earth, a mission that will succeed beyond ny wildest dreams and if i have the faith and the courage to find my entrepreneurial calling. A mission that will succeed beyond my wildest dreams, but only if i have the faith and the courage and the ability to find that entrepreneurial calling. It is also possible  for me to be a little skeptical, and the reason why I should believe the speaker is because he has been where I want to go, because he already found his entrepreneurial calling, and i believe I can too and also because he knows that most of my worries are about the wrong things and that might mean that if I keep worrying and  n...

W04 Reflection

Hello everyone welcome to my blog. So this week I learnt from the book on “How will you measure your life” by Clayton M. Christensen. It talks about how to balance work and your personal life so that you will be able to spend your time on earth happily by not just been focused on money and career but also family, friends, and your personal self. It creates a balance in your life. He talked about how we want to be remembered, how do we want people to remember us when we leave this world. Our relationship with our family and friends is very important and it a source of happiness for our lives. Once things looks like it is going well we should not be deceived to invest in the relationship.   We should not loose track of essential things and we should make sure to allocate resources appropriately. He sighted examples of some of his classmates in business school  who had it in mind to do great things in the world but ended up with student debts and had to take jobs to pa...

Honest and Business Ethics

Hello everyone, welcome to blog. This is week 3 in introduction to entrepreneurship. This week I studies Honesty and business ethics. This week I learnt a lot about why ethics is important according to Frank Levison. In the video, he told a story of how he started his first company and how he met a fella who like 30yrs older than he was and the man was a smoker and calls the women at work honey and he does other things but he was loyal but dishonest so he fired him.  According to him, there are right way of doing things and there are right ways to treat people. He said at his company they don’t care if you are black/white, gay/straight just be good and have good working ethics. I also learnt the top 10 must have for a startup, firstly, I need a comfortable, cheap chair.   Secondly, I will put up a sign to tell the world I am in business. Thirdly thing is little money, then next thing is to need common sense, I need support from my family, also I have got to like surfi...
Hello everyone,  welcome to my blog. My name is Ikeoluwa and I will be writing about what I learnt this week 02 in intro to Entrepreneurship Bus 110. This week from the material  "Stars and stepping stones: Some choices only come around once" by Jeff Sandefer, I learnt a lot. I  understood the meaning of a star with his illustrations using the teacher who helped his student become happier.  When you do what helps the world you are a star. I also learnt how I can be a star. Life is a journey and you must live an aimless journey.  I should have a focus and a vision that will give meaning to my life. To be a start , I have to figure out what is important to me in life and what will remain important to me. I have to learn how to make choices that won't affect other things on my life. I have to picture myself at a certain age and what I hope to achieve at that particular age, what I picture myself doing at that age and what should be said of me at that time. I...
Hello everyone,  Welcome to my blog.  Today I will be reflecting and describing what I have learnt this wee in Introduction to Entrepreneurship. The material living life as an hero thought me that to begin my journey as an entrepreneur, I have to firstly dream big, according to Daniel Burnham, " Make no small plans, for they have no power to stir the blood'. In order words, to start I have to dream big and not small, i have to picture myself going big in future. Secondly, all epic journey and all paths to mastery begin with a first step, that means I have to take a step to start and I should not be scared of taking the first step.  There are some difficulties I'm going to face while trying to start but I will have to accept that life is hard and seldom fair, persevere from difficult decisions to habits to character to destiny, I will get to chose but I'm not in control and that I should choose my fellow traveller. Then I  should ask if it would be worth it at t...
