W04 Reflection

Hello everyone welcome to my blog. So this week I learnt from the book on “How will you measure your life” by Clayton M. Christensen. It talks about how to balance work and your personal life so that you will be able to spend your time on earth happily by not just been focused on money and career but also family, friends, and your personal self. It creates a balance in your life.

He talked about how we want to be remembered, how do we want people to remember us when we leave this world. Our relationship with our family and friends is very important and it a source of happiness for our lives. Once things looks like it is going well we should not be deceived to invest in the relationship.

We should not loose track of essential things and we should make sure to allocate resources appropriately. He sighted examples of some of his classmates in business school  who had it in mind to do great things in the world but ended up with student debts and had to take jobs to pay off their loan for the main time.

Later in future they were able to make it, they had their dream jobs and were cash out money and along the way they lost track of what is important in their life. According to him how you allocate your resources is where the rubber meets the road. You  need to have a strategic plan for you career and future.

According to him,  as you’re living your life from day to day, how do you make sure you’re heading in the right direction? Watch where your resources flow. If they’re not supporting the strategy you’ve decided upon, then you’re not implementing that strategy at all.

I have decided to be follow a strategy so that I will have plan in life to reach my career goal and also for my family. This will help me create a balance in my life.
